Dedicated animal rescuers and Vet Ranch saved the life of a dog with a large tumor on his side. Before being transferred to an animal shelter in Texas, where her life was saved, she lived with owners who didn’t care where the tumor grew for two years.
Hattie has one of the worst surrendering owners we’ve received, according to a nonprofit called Dallas Rescue Rehabilitation Camp Reform.
Hattie was sent to Vet Ranch shortly after, where Dr. Karri examined her and was surprised to find that she had never before seen a tumor the size of Hattie on a dog. Dallas Dog RRR calls the tumor a bowling ball.
Dr. Karri noticed that Hattie was moving unsteadily and swaying when she examined Hattie because of the heavy weight of the tumor. She said that Mattie used it as a lazy chair and would lie on it. This is really shocking to learn that the tumor weighs up to 15 pounds.
Dr. Karri was then both excited and nervous before performing surgery on Hattie. Now that Hattie has recovered from the surgery, she’s turned into a completely different dog.
Despite the difficulty of her recovery, Hattie eventually received proper foster care.
She was saved, and rescuers assisted her in finding a warm, permanent home.
Due to the previous owner’s negligence, Hattie was dangerously close to being knocked out.
However, the story of her recovery has a happy ending.
