Pooh is an amputee cat that has received bionic ‘new legs.’ Nobody knows what happened to the kitten, but he was most likely hit by a car or possibly a train in his little Bulgarian town. Following the road accident, a compassionate woman brought Pooh to a clinic in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, where he was checked by surgeon Vladislav Zlatinov. The man realized that amputating the rear legs high up on the limbs may not work, so he had to euthanize the cat.
This time, Zlatinov decided to try something new and attach prostheses on Pooh’s legs. “I had a hazy sense that this was done,” Zlatinov recalled, “but it sounded impossible for our practice.” “However, I wanted to give it a shot.”
And it was successful. “So far, he’s done surprisingly well,” Zlatinov added. “Pooh is able to walk, run, and even do tiny leaps on level terrain… What matters is that he doesn’t appear to be in any discomfort.”
Zlatinov told Reuters, “We’re extremely proud.” “It was a huge success… It offers other sufferers hope.” Pooh is presently at Let’s Adopt Bulgaria, a rescue shelter, and will be available for adoption shortly.”
