This is poor Esme who “Alley Cats Rescue” took in this week. She was handed in at the vets as a stray after being the subject of quite a bit of social media attention in her local area due to the awful state she is in.
She is thought to have a very bad flea allergy in addition to probably an old trauma injury to her tail.
Although we will never know exactly what she has been through, our vet it has probably been some residual neuro pain which has caused in her continuously constantly infected her tail and becoming badly infected.
On top of this, she is heavily pregnant. Due to the pregnancy we are very limited as to what we can currently do safely without harming the unborn kittens. She has been given a course of antibiotics to treat the infection.
Her tail will have to be amputated once it is safe to anaethetise her and the infection is under control.
Esme is so good natured and friendly, which breaks our hearts as it’s so amazing because she has been through so much pain and discomfort.
